With a population of over 1.4 billion people, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is the world’s second-most populous country. Known for its rich history, diverse natural beauty, mouthwatering cuisine, and traditional arts, there is no shortage of culture to be experienced here. From the end of the twentieth century to today, China’s rapid economic growth, increasing industrial production, and growing global influence have ensured the country’s place as one of the world’s major powers. Beijing (China’s capital) and Shanghai (China’s largest city) are among the most well-known tourist destinations in East Asia. Xi Jinping has served as the President of China since 2013 as well as the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since 2012.
