Isaac's love of travel and culture started in 2016 when he visited Japan for the first time.

This led him to pursue a degree in Japanese at Western Michigan University where he later worked as an intern at the WMU study abroad office. After spending a year abroad at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto and graduating with his bachelor's, Isaac went on to continue his education at the University of Michigan where he received his master's in International and Regional Studies with a specialization in Japanese Studies.

Currently based in Ann Arbor, Isaac also works as an ESL teacher and is an intern with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS).

A Fun Fact About Isaac:
Having a love for music since childhood, I spend my free time attending concerts, playing piano, and learning the shamisen (a Japanese stringed instrument).

Isaac’s Favorite Travel Memory:
One of my favorite travel memories was during my study abroad trip in Japan. My friends and I would frequent a katsu (deep-fried cutlet) restaurant near our dormitory that was run by a nice elderly couple. After a couple of visits, the owners began to remember us when we'd stop by and would treat us to candy or desserts. Funnily enough, the wife had an obsession with Disney because there were Mickey Mouse souvenirs all around the restaurant - and I mean all over! Although we couldn't speak Japanese too well at the time, the couple always welcomed us into their restaurant and treated us as if we were family.
