Designed for students in sport management, business, marketing, communications, leadership, and related fields, this immersive program explores the business of professional sport in the United Kingdom.

Traveling through London, Manchester, and Norwich, students go behind the scenes at professional clubs and sporting venues, engage with industry professionals and community organizations, and examine commercialization, branding, sponsorship, fan engagement, stadium operations, governance, athlete development, and social impact. Students compare globally recognized football clubs with community-centered approaches to sport.

11-Day Itinerary

A Program, Built to Be Customized

This itinerary shows what a United Kingdom Business of Sport program could look like. Specific club visits, stadium experiences, guest speakers, matches, and industry engagements will vary based on your dates, group size, academic goals, sporting calendars, and local availability.

We’ll work with your faculty and study abroad team to adapt the experience to your course objectives and students. The program can emphasize sport management, marketing, finance, leadership, analytics, community development, athlete pathways, or another course-aligned theme.

Day 1 | Arrival & Introduction to British Sport

Arrive in London and begin exploring the UK’s distinctive sporting landscape. Meet your EdOdyssey Program Leader for orientation and an introduction to how history, culture, competition, and commercialization have shaped British sport. Explore London before gathering for a welcome dinner.

Day 2 | Sport, Culture & Social Impact

Explore how sport can strengthen communities and create opportunities. Engage with a community sport organization to examine how sport supports youth development, education, inclusion, and community building. Connect the experience to London’s broader sporting culture and the role sport can play beyond professional competition.

Day 3 | Wembley & the Business of Major Sporting Venues

Go behind the scenes at Wembley Stadium and explore the business of a world-renowned sporting venue. Examine event operations, branding, premium experiences, sponsorship, security, and the economics of hosting major sporting events.

Day 4 | Professional Football: Brand, Fans & Commercial Strategy

Experience the business of a major London football club through a stadium visit and professional engagement. Explore how elite clubs build their brands, cultivate fan loyalty, generate commercial revenue, and engage increasingly global audiences.

Day 5 | London to Manchester: Football as a Global Business

Travel north to Manchester and explore how football connects local identity with global business. Explore Manchester’s sporting culture and examine how its professional clubs have built globally recognized brands while maintaining strong local connections.

Day 6 | Inside Manchester’s Football Industry

Go behind the scenes at a professional football venue and explore how an elite club operates. Examine the operational and commercial systems that support professional football, then explore the sport’s history and evolution as both a cultural institution and global industry.

Day 7 | Manchester to Norwich: Regional Sport & Community

Travel to Norwich and explore a regional model of professional sport. Consider how market size, community identity, financial resources, and organizational priorities influence the way sport organizations operate. Students apply their learning through a sport business challenge or final presentation focused on a real-world industry issue, drawing on the commercial, operational, and social dimensions of sport explored throughout the program. Conclude with a farewell dinner and final reflection.
