VOLUNTEER / INTERNSHIP / INTERESTS INFORMATION
While living in Lima, students are encouraged to get involved in order to take away more from their study-away experience. The following information helps us a get a better sense of you as person so we can make some suggestions for you to explore.
For students spending a semester of full year abroad, this information helps our local team assist you with your volunteer / internship match and better advise your Personal Project (if applicable). While successful volunteer or internship placement depends heavily on the student, EdOdyssey does have some incredible connections throughout Peru and across numerous industries that we love sharing if it matches your interests.
For students spending Summer Term abroad or participating in another short-term program, this information helps us to tailor local activities to you and the group.
Briefly describe your personal interests and passions
Is there anything you already know you want to get involved with while in Lima?
A great homestay is a hallmark of study abroad. Households represent a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, structures and sizes. Please note that while your homestay placement will take into consideration all of the information you provide here, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all of your preferences. All students will live in a safe home with internet access, have a comfortable bedroom and be able to easily access a bathroom. Details about your homestay will be sent to you prior to your arrival.

Ideal homestay location
(Check all the apply)
There are many different and distinct areas in Lima. All host families live in safe, good neighborhood, but we want to take your preferences into account. We've included some names of districts you can search to gain more information and see pictures. Unlike in the US, commuting to university is normal and with Lima's traffic this could entail a commute from 10 minutes to over an hour (in public bus). Remember, depending on your class schedule you may go to campus as few as two days a week and as many as five days a week. If you're not sure, according to student surveys, in the past most students have enjoyed/preferred living a bit further from the university in districts such as Miraflores.
Near university; 10-30 minute commute to university, less shopping and night life (e.g. "San Miguel", "Jesús María", "Pueblo Libre" neighborhoods)
Further from university; 30-60 minute commute to university, more shopping and night life, more walkable (e.g. "Miraflores", "Barranco", "San Isidro" neighborhoods)
If you checked "other" above please elaborate:
Please share a little bit about yourself including your personality, hobbies and interests.
The more information you provide the better we are able to match you with the best available family. We also share this section with potential families so they can get to know you better! (Feel free to write in English...we will translate for you!)
Is there anything else that we should be aware of or take into consideration when matching you with a family?
Please note any health issues/concerns, dietary restrictions/preferences, allergies, etc. here in addition to any other pertinent information we should know about you or requests you would like us to try and accommodate.
