EdOdyssey travel schoalrship content
Each year EdOdyssey offers a number of travel scholarship for $100 - $4,000 depending on the program. Deadline are January 15 and July 15 annually; submissions are accepted on a rolling basis from January 16 - July 15 and July 16 - January 15 annually. Winners are selected and announced shortly after each deadline of July 15 and January 15.

The 2018 scholarship contest theme is “Travel changes people, people change the world.” Tell us how travel and international experiences have changed and shaped you. How have these experiences enabled you to lead positive change in your family, school, town, community, country and/or world? We encourage students reflect critically about how travel has shaped them as global citizen and how their experience(s) abroad have poised them to positively influence the people and world around them. If you haven't traveled yet, tell us why you want to travel and why you believe if will change and shape you.
Entries are judged on creativity, inventiveness, and how the expression of the idea relates to the theme. Videos, photographs, writing pieces and artwork are all accepted.
Who can enter?
Our scholarship contest is open to primary and secondary student that have participated in an EdOdyssey trip during the last six (6) months and/or will participate in an EdOdyssey trip in the next six (6) months. It is also open to college students that have traveled on a faculty-led course during the last six (6) months and/or will participate in the next six (6) months. There are also scholarships for Study Abroad Students. Some programs and trips are are excluded, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
When can I enter?
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis all year. There are two rounded each year: January 16 to July 15 and July 16 to January 15. The deadline for each round is the last day of submissions (July 15 and January 15 annually). Entries will be accepted based on the date of postmark.
How do I enter?
Send your entry AND the Student Scholarship Entry Form to EdOdyssey Scholarship Contest. The mailing address and specific instructions are indicated on the Scholarship Entry Form.
When are winners selected / announced?
Entries are evaluated twice a year after the January 15 and July 15. Winners are selected and announced soon after each deadline.
What mediums are acceptable?
Creativity is encouraged and various mediums can be accepted including: writing pieces, art pieces, photographs and videos. If you have any questions about a submission idea please contact us directly.
Writing pieces must be typed and should be no more than 1,000 words. Both prose (creative and non-fiction) and poetry are acceptable; however, all entries will be judged from the same pool. No electronic files will be accepted. Entries cannot be returned.
All art entries should be two-dimensional. The work should be original and not copied. Art submissions may be no larger than 30 inches in any direction. EdOdyssey accepts either original artwork or reproductions. However, we suggest submitting high-quality copies rather than original artwork as no entries can be returned.
Photos should reflect a student's own experience and imagination. Photos may be no larger than 30 inches in any direction. We will accept either color or black and white photos. No slides or electronic files will be accepted. Entries cannot be returned. In addition to the photograph, please also include the following information about your photo: title, location, how the photo relates to this year's theme.
Videos should also be original and reflect a student's own experience. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes long. EdOdyssey accepts video submissions on USBs and DVDs, however please not that no hardware, disks, etc. can be returned. In addition to the video file, please also include the following information about your video: title, location, how the video relates to this year's theme.
How are the winners selected?
Entries will be judged on creativity and inventiveness in expressing an idea related to the theme. All judges' decisions will be final.
How many prizes are awarded or for how much?
Scholarship applications are divided into two categories: custom programs (all secondary programs and faculty-let trips) and study abroad. The prizes in each category are as follows:
Grande Prize / First Place - $500
Second Place - $400
Third Place - $300
Honorable Mention - $100 (up to three awarded)
Summer Term - $300 (up to two awarded)
One Semester Program - $1,000 (up to two awarded)
Full Year / Two-Semester Program - $3,000 (up to three awarded)
